Russia is one of the most extraordinary countries in the world, with an almost unmatched depth of culture and history, and picturesque landscapes that have inspired artists and poets for generations. Many people still view Russia as difficult and inaccessible because of the long periods under the unwelcoming Soviet system. But Russia has really opened up, and travelers have returned with a treasure trove of wonderful memories. Based on this, we have put together some reasons you should visit Russia for your next holiday. Bear in mind that summer is the best time to visit Russia. However, it is beautiful all year round.

Russia’s Interesting Geography

As you probably know Russia is the biggest country in the world, it takes up one seventh of the worlds land. Its expansive area means that it shares a boundary with more countries than any other. The country has twelve seas and touches twenty-two separate areas of water. Due to its wide variety  of landscapes, the currently country has forty-eight national parks and forty-one UNESCO Biosphere Reserves. Russia has some of the longest existing mountains and the most deep lake in the world, Lake Baikal as well as the Urals.

Russian Rich Culture

Russia is always a top spot in the world, especially in the Arts. From the Pushkin Art Gallery and Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, the Bolshoi Theater and Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, Russia has some of the most amazing art locations on the planet. St. Petersburg boasts 2,000 libraries, 221 museums, 100 concert halls, 80 nightclubs, 80 theaters, 62 movie theaters, and 45 art galleries, and over 100 shows, concerts and events each year.

The History of Russia

Russia’s 1,150 years of rich history has its archives over a hundred wars and conflict, has had over 120 leaders, built the world’s longest railroad, and was the first to send a human into space.

The People of Russia

The country has a population of 145.5 million people, with 80% of its inhabitants in the West Russia and the rest in the cities. There are twelve million people in Moscow alone, making it the largest city in Europe. St. Petersburg has a large five million residents. A typical Russian family is made up of three people. Of every four Russians, one is retired, at an average age of 30 and that number is only growing more and more each yar.

Russia’s Unique Weather

Being one of the largest countries in the world of course the weather in Russia is very varied from one area to the other. The weather is fairly neutral in parts, typical winters and warmer summers, there are parts of the country that are very very cold and this should be taken into consideration if you are planing a trip to Russia soon.

There are so many great unique features to Russia, the people, the culture, the weather. All of these things are reasons why you should visit Russia for your next vacation and take in all that the wonderful country has to explore.
