How Russia Works To Preserve Its Wildlife

How Russia Works To Preserve Its Wildlife

By on June 21, 2018 in Kamexplore

The nature found in Russia is amazing. Being stretched on such a large surface, Russia has some of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. Meaning that it also has a very diverse array of different animals. Every region has different fauna and flora and preserving it is a very difficult task. Russian people have in general a great respect to the nature since most of them live in areas that are still surrounded by forest and know how to value and preserve it. But in the recent years, due to the pollution and illegal hunting, Russia was facing the possibility of extinction of some of the most unique species on the planet. Many animals found in Russia are rare and not found in other areas of the world. Therefore, their extinction is a true travesty. Because of this is the government intervened and gave some very harsh laws regarding poaching. Many people wonder what Russia is doing to preserve the wildlife because it seems to work very well. We have listed some of the key elements that contribute to the wildlife preservation in Russia to better understand the nature and the relationship between the Russian people and the environment.

Observing

First, they started to observe the behavior of the most endangered species like the Siberian tiger. They even tagged some of them with GPS devices to see where they travel and to make sure that they have people guarding those areas at all times. They made a partnership with China for that because they observed that the tigers often migrate in Chinese territory.

Government Action

The government gave some very harsh laws when it comes to pouching. If a person gets caught hunting endangered species or hunting outside the hunting seasons that person will receive a very big fine and, in some cases, may even go to jail for years. The government also banned many products that come from the endangered species to make sure that they are not easy to transport and sell and to try to reduce illegal hunting and fishing.

In addition to this the government also declared large areas natural reservations that are managed by the state. Hunting is totally prohibited here and if someone is caught hunting here the punishment is prison. The Russian rangers are also very aware, and they have excellent equipment that helps them get in the most secluded areas.

Russia is also educating the younger generations about the respect people should show to the nature. There are countless workshops and dedicated events that aim to educate parents and children about the endangered species and how they can contribute to save the remaining ones. Russia also banned fishing endangered species and if a person is caught fishing or selling these species the fine is very big and that person even risks getting in prison. Hopefully these laws and various actions will help safe the animals.
