In Russia lies one of the most fascinating cities in the whole entire world. There is so much to see and do, there is culture, art, shopping, excellent Russian food, even architecture, St. Petersburg has it all! There are so many things to explore, even things you never knew existed, places you can never imagine, etc… It may not be on the top of a lot of peoples lists as a place to visit and they often over look it when making their travel plans. But here is why you should visit.

Do you know that the Russian people are very friendly and are rich in culture? Are you aware that the rates of petty crimes in Russia is relatively low, thereby making it a safe place to be? So, you can join me and lets explore St. Petersburg, you will be amazed at what you will discover!

  • Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. This is a church which is over a hundred years old, marking the very spot where the assassination of Tsar Alexande(2) took place in the year 1881. The church which was constructed by Alexander (3) to serve as a memorial to Alexander (2) his father is an iconic sight in the city. The church was closed down by the Soviet government and now it is being used as a museum because of its failure to be concentrated again after the close down. Inside this church-turn-museum lies some colourful mosiac with unbelievable beauty!
  • Canal Tour: There are series of water canals in St. Petersburg, and according to research and statistics, there are about 800 bridges with a total length of about 300km of artificial canals. www.annees-de-pelerinage.com
  • Peterhof Palace: The palace which is greater than Versailles was built by Tsar Peter. Although it is not a big palace, but it is filled with opulent water gardens created by his architects. The grand cascade of Peterhof palace is a place you will love to see.
  • Saint Isaac’s Cathedral: The achitech structure of this building is just too amazing! It is the fourth largest cathedral in the world and also the largest orthodox basilica in the world. Just like the Savior on Spilled Blood, the Saint Isaac’s Cathedral is not a church anymore, it is now a museum.
  • Mariinsky Theater: Russia is a country known for Opera and Ballet production. The Mariinsky theater is the best of all grand operas in Russia. It has ancient interiors which are marvelous and incredible.
  • Fabergè Museum: A place where you will see the fabled imperial Easter Eggs and some other exhibits from farbergè, including the golden age of jewelry. The museum was opened in 2013, hence it has a very short history. www.atlasobscura.com.

The Catherine Palace, Peter and Paul Fortress, the Nevsky prospect, the Admiralty Buildings, the Kronstadt and Naval Cathedral, Hermitage Museum, Russian Cruiser Aurora, Cabin of Tsar Peter the Great, Yeliseev Emporium, Smolny Convent, and so much more are some of the places you can explore in St. Petersburg, which you may never knew existed.
